A Royal Hunt: History Reenactment Weekend.
Join the Marquess of Winchester’s Regiment, and friends, of the English Civil War Society at Beaulieu National Motor Museum for a weekend of Living History Reenactment.
12th and 13th July 2025

Beaulieu is an award-winning day out with something for everyone, in the heart of the New Forest, Hampshire. SO42 7ZN.
Inspired by the history behind the novel The Children of the New Forest, a company of New Model Army soldiers have arrived at Beaulieu on the hunt for King Charles 1st . As well as the many attractions of the Beaulieu site there will be a timetable of Reenactment military displays, dinning and search parties. You will be able to visit both civilian and military living history encampments at the event from 10am to 5pm on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July.
The opening scenes of the novel The Children of the New Forest establish that Charles 1st has fled his imprisonment at Hampton Court and is hiding from the forces of Parliament in the New Forest, in November 1647. The Parliamentarians sent forces into the Forest in pursuit to search for King Charles. This is the moment at which our event takes place, will the armies of Parliament capture the Royal King? Or will he escape and restart the war?
