Regimental related Questions

What is the Structure of the Regiment?
The regiment has a social club structure with a hierarchy of officers.

These are:
The CO - Dave Ashbolt (dash) "Sergeant Major"
The 2 IC - John Ruse "Captain"
Ensign - Eric Peaple
Ensign - James Churchill
Treasurer - Robert Dawson
Membership Secretary - Christine Eeley

Is the regiment "Democratic"?
'NO - and for some very good reasons.

Being "Democratic" means elections, means politics which means upset. These aspects in our opinion deflect members efforts from being re-enactors to politicians.

We are not here to be politicians!

How do I become an officer?
Hard work, consistent event attendance and the willingness to work "out of hours" all goes towards being promoted.

We strongly believe that those who wish to become an officer earn the respect of the members around them by contributing to the regiment. If you have the right attitude and work hard you will be noticed by the officers and be considered for an offer of promotion.

For your information officers are expected to lead by example, they will chop wood, set up camp and do all what the average member does when taking part and more.

Any Regimental rules?'

Yes. - Have fun!. No politics!

No morning drill = no battle - If you do not take part in the regimental drill because you are under the influence then you will not be permitted to take part in the battles. There is a very good reason for this, 1 it stops all the old timers who think they know it all from not taking part in the drill session, and 2 it allows new recruits to train in a large body of troops before an event without the interruptions from enemy fire - which would be difficult if all the old timers weren't there!!

No running generators within earshot of the CO!!!

Do not take kit from the equipment tent without informing the Quartermaster - even if you are an officer.

The equipment tent is not a party tent, please refrain from socialising within this tent setting out seats etc, not everyone can get into this tent when we have a large turnout. Also for those who have worked hard packing away kit you have just used for the event get to\"socialise" theres "no room left at the Inn"

Some of our events allow us to have a camp fire - this is noted on the warning order - so bring fire wood if we do - even if its just a small bags worth, if all the members bring some we then have enough to socialise around a fire or brazier or 2 together as one.
