It is 1670 and King Charles II is hosting a horse race with a difference as he stops off at his new palace at Audley End on the way to nearby Newmarket.

Join the merry monarch for a lavish, glamorous day of celebration. Get swept up in the excitement and tension of a day at the races when the king’s Cavalier soldiers race their horses against the magnificent backdrop of the mansion house.

Soak up the indulgence and fun of the Restoration period. Marvel as Charles, mounted on horseback, watches his army perform in a spectacular parade in his honour and explore our fascinating living history encampment. Listen to celebratory music and invite your little ones to take part in hands-on children’s activities. There’ll be plenty of exceptional horsemanship on show this bank holiday weekend.
